The cost of owning a weapon

When it comes to owning a weapon, any weapon, a pistol, such as a revolver, an automatic or semi-automatic weapon handgun or rifle, the careful care and security of those weapons should be taken into account, while pursuing ownership of a firearm – ANY FIREARM. Not, just those that are revolvers, automatics and semi-automatics, it’s any firearm that is capable to cause bodily harm and death. Period. No matter the make and model, if it shoots, it’s a gun point blank.

Today’s current gun laws don’t protect the innocent victims killed each year, because because gun owners refuse to secure their weapons and laws pertaining to criminals using firearms in the commission of their crimes are often stolen and retraced to a gun owner who’s reported a stolen gun – chances are a person is killed with the stolen gun of a law abiding citizen who failed to secure his or her own weapon, where it is not accessible or left out in plain site.

The rules are simple in the action of Common Sense, not stupidity. The Constitution of the United States in the Second Amendment, says, ‘we have the right to bear arms.” A right that the Supreme Court has reaffirmed from time and time again. The Right to own and bear arms is a basic right, not a felony – but, in the eyes of Criminals and those with mental illness, the right should be reversed in the action of safety, they should never be allowed to see the face of a weapon if their convicted or mentally unstable.

Criminals are bonded by law of owning a firearm, if convicted of a crime, particularly – if the crime is a felony, such as armed robbery and other misdemeanor crimes. But, the law does not govern, those with a mental instability. But, the rules of safety and out of reach still applies by law of common sense, they say.

The past week, the National Rifle Association (NRA) suggested that there should be “Armed Security guards’ in every school in America. Many Police Departments around the country already have fledging “School Resource Officer Programs” in the works to fuel the safety of students and faculty – these police officers are already armed and adequately serving the purpose of Police Departments having armed officers in the nations public schools.

The Eugene Police Department has Police Officers serving in the area’s four major high schools and the officers beat also includes schools below the high school level as well.

If gun violence is to be stopped, state and federal laws needs to be changed to make it simple as possible, not a hardship for the gun owner to begin with. The thought of changing the law should be simple and in plain language rather than being debatable and confusing – Common Sense is the first perfection of the solution. The second idea is to require that new gun owners be at least 21 years old before they could be their first weapon, if they are under the ages of 18 they must require a standard safety class before having access to a firearm in the presence of an adult parent.

Third, the gun owner is required to have a secured gun safe in his or her home and bolted to the floor of their home to secure the movement of readily accessible firearms by children and parents are the only one’s by law to know the combination to the gun safe alone, unless the child is over the age of twenty-one.

Purely a simple piece of common sense goes a long way in preserving the rights to bear arms under the United States Constitution to the right to have and bear arms. It’s that simple as a grain of salt and not merely a complication as the law should simple and simple to be interpreted to be understood, by gun owners and law enforcement officers in state, local and federal law enforcement agencies alone.

But, the toughest part of the deal is matching the crime with the jailbird time and sentences of those with violent criminal histories and more, especially those with mental illness.

I’m not particularly against the ban on assault weapons, but, I’m all for changing the laws and the ways gun owners own their weapons and the security of those firearms, especially, if they have young children under the ages of 18 and 21 years of age. They need to take special care around family members that have a mental illness as well – the security of their weapons should be taken into serious consideration and et al.

The shooting of twenty-plus people in Newtown and the sole survivor in the Oregon’s Clackamas Mall Shooting, changed a lot of peoples minds about assault weapons and more, but, the security of those weapons were compromised and the lives of those innocently killed were taken at the hands of those who had access to an unsecured weapon. If simple protocol and procedure had been followed, the lives of these small children and adults in Newtown, would’ve lived to see their next Christmas, as those who lost their own lives in Oregon as well.

The debate of such weapons and the security of those weapons by current and future gun owners will be a debatable cause for years to come until a readily solution is found.

God has some new angels in heaven and the lives of those they left behind have been forever shattered because of one man and the accessible notation of his intentions to kill those who were innocent and had nothing to do with his mental illness.

Obama is like Lincoln

Presidential elections have been a stable for more than two hundred years – since, America broke from the British rule. Honest Abraham Lincoln the nation’s 16th President of the United States would’ve been proud of Democratic President Barack Obama for winning a second term to the White House.

President Lincoln abolished the ruling of slavery in America in the mid 1860’s. He was a life long Republican at heart and self educated, became one of the greatest of three American Presidents ranked by American Scholars, he was followed by President George Washington and President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The election of 2012 brings a whole new meaning to American politics as President Obama embarks on his continued mission of bringing a decade of war to an abrupt end and bringing troops home from a decade of war and re-energizing the economy jittered by a previous Republican President, that left the country in despair from an unspeakable decision of sending troops and wasteful spending and loss of American jobs to overseas corporations, after the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

As the nation’s first African-American President, Obama beams the likes of Lincoln and Roosevelt in his political ambitions as President. I’m often asked in the waning days up to election day of what my take and view was on American Politics and the President ticket of 2012 – My answer was to wait it out and see how the electoral college played with the 270 votes that were needed to win the White House – Obama swept Governor Mitt Romney 303-205 in the final national tally toward the end of the night as the east coast stayed up into the wee hours of the night to wait for the final results and the final grandstanding of a winning a new elected Republican President or the Re-Election of President Obama as American’s casted their votes at the polls, voters were getting jittery as Romney shown he was leading the pack, but, Obama shot back and made it clear – America wanted him back in the Oval Office, not a man who thought, the Presidency was a laughing joke and a prudent to puppet politics.

As I watched the night unfold, I was a complete nervous jittery wreck, wishing that Obama would’ve scored the first winning points, but, Romney blew the lead until late in the night, after getting home from dinner, a short bike ride and a joyful stop at the local Starbucks joint, Obama started to sweeping the nation in political points left and right – even though, Romney red eyed the Midwest and a couple southern spit ballers to his name, the Obama camp fired up the voters with the long lines and tallies from the west coast to secure the White House once again.

“Impressive!” – I thought from the political standpoint, but, luckily, I didn’t bet any of my Republican friends on this election otherwise, the election would’ve swayed in their favor! Thanks to whomever gave me that idea, wherever you are…. There is a thought though – I keep seeing a lot of Abe Lincoln in Barack Obama from a voters standpoint of view. It’s actually a good feeling because, Lincoln would’ve admired the way Obama made a difference in his re-election campaign and working with voters to brighten the future of America into a brighter future for the next four years.

Occupy Eugene–what are they thinking?

OE-logo  Exactly what were the “topless black clad” Occupy Eugene members thinking about parading down the city streets of Eugene – “TOPLESS!”

That’s right folks – several women in black clad clothing, ski mask’s to hide their identities and bared their breasts in full broad daylight as they marched in downtown Eugene to protest whatever mission they were trying to accomplish – while marching topless in the downtown area.

But, what really surprises me the most – is that the Eugene Police Department hasn’t done much about the indecency the Occupy Eugene members has continued to promote, since parading topless in front of a Eugene City Councilman’s home and neighborhood and costing the city money in providing a security detail for the councilman and his family.

Occupy Eugene seems to have a diverse agenda with no leadership whatsoever – this actually puts their Occupy activities and the general public in the danger zone.

I’m surprised that the Eugene group has not done any violent tactics as many other Occupy groups have shown otherwise across the country – perhaps those groups could learn a great deal form the Eugene Occupy folks.

But, it’s more disturbing to see and hear that such parading in the topless and clothed in black pants, boots, arm warmers and ski masks make it all look like a piece of cake. Come to think of it folks. If someone really wanted to see parading women topless or naked, that can go to any of the strip bars in Springfield, as there are several of them there and a two that are in Eugene.

Seriously, it would provided a more safe environment than on the city streets and causing drivers to do DOUBLE TAKES, while driving and causing a major wreck on a major street! Now, try explaining that to a JUDGE of the court and getting off the hook on that one.

I literally have no respect for this movement type agenda, but, it does make a statement – and, people are starting to take notice, but are they really supporting their efforts? Now, how ugly can that be? It might work for Stephen Colbert and Fox’s Bill O’Rielly, but for the rest of America, I’ll stick with the Democratic Party and let the Republican’s screw the tamales out of O’Reilly and Colbert…..

Blogging bastard duels Outdoor writer buddy!

writers_block1  When it comes time to write your likely to settle for something a little different than you intended to write about in the first place. That’s exactly, how I feel, about writing this morning. I have no idea, where the hell this blog article is going to go or how it is going to end?

“Newton you blogging bastard!” as a fellow freelance writer friend of mine would say – as I told him, “I’m working, I’m writing and I’m blogging in the world of blogs!” Still, he insists, “I’m the blogging bastard of the holy century!” “Go figures, I said,” which wasn’t too surprising, but, it was the tally of the black matter effect – “no, I’m not black or negro either!” “Don’t even think about getting out a shoe shine brush and a can of black shoe polish and trying to pass me on as a black man!”

Trump invests in Romney, fires Gingrich!

greed  What can I say, Newt Gingrich was hoping for the King of Real Estate for his political empire and battle against candidate Mitt Romney, instead, the Donald looked elsewhere – he decided to endorse the competition instead of a power house!

Now, that’s Politics! “I’m sorry folks, but, I had to laugh at this one, when I heard the breaking news earlier this am on Good Morning America on ABC – “just how in the hell did Newt intend to miss a major endorsement from Donald Trump?” Guess, that’s politics, huh? Figures.

The Donald was probably right to invest in Romney, than investing the Casino empire against a financial bet that could have caused a financial meltdown in Newt Gingrich’s nuclear reactor meltdown. I can’t imagine the financial loss the Gingrich campaign could lose over Trumps endorsement of Romney, instead Trumps money is all about the greed and money lies this political politician use for political gain and financial ruin of an opponent during election season.

It is too early to say or tell, if Trump’s financial backing would help Romney in the campaign to the White House or end up being a total financial meltdown for both the Trump and Romney camps?

Time will tell if and when or perhaps, Trump, Romney and Gingrich give up their bitter feuds upon one another and rest their cases saving their hinds from more embarrassment and dropping out of the race.

If not, I’ll admit, the Republican Party is not what is used to years ago. Good thing, I went Democratic.
