Are we really alone? The debate about colonizing Mars

Mars colony with humans sometime in the near future of the 21st Century.

There has been a lot of talk about Mars lately – NASA is talking about it, private spaceship companies are talking about it, even skeptics are talking about it and it comes down to one thing – Colonizing Mars with human life!

Putting  a human colony on Mars without the chance of ever returning home to Earth may seem like a page taken out of a science fiction movie. But, to colonize another planet and never return home seems a little outrages, on the other hand, it seems more exploratory and absurd to risk a chance of taking a trip to another planet, another world, another galaxy and to never return.

But, how do we get home and back? We’ve been to the moon and back, but didn’t plan or leave a colony of human beings on a foreign planet – our satellite planet called, “the moon.”

In the 1960’s, than President Kennedy suggested, that “we put a man on the moon by the end of the end of the decade. During the summer of July 1969, the first manned moon landing of the Apollo 11 with Astronaut’s Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong successfully landed on the moon that very same year. The Apollo Space Program only lasted from the 1960’s until 1972 – Since than, there were five other manned moon landings to the moon between 1969 and 1972.

Known the fact of never returning home from Mars sounds utterly scary and bitterly insane! The question is can humans actually live a long human life on another planet within the same solar system and beyond? It all sounds like another Gene Roddenberry Science Fiction adventure and “where no man has gone before,” as Captain Kirk would say to his crew of the USS Enterprise.

Only time will tell if a human colony can survive the trip and back?
